What Is 'Expediency'?

Question 6

What is expediency in Buddhism?

It is something that is absolutely necessary in order to move us towards the truth and make us attain the truth.

“Expediency” in Buddhism (Skt. upāya) means moving towards the purpose. Therefore, the expedient (or provisional) is a means of making us move towards the purpose.

(From the Doctrine Book, No.2-45)
