Q: Why is the human mind called ki (機) in Buddhism?
Write the reason.
A: All machines (Jp. kikai) begin to work when they are operated from the outside. In the same way, our minds are made to start moving in any way by an outside power. That is why our mind is called ki (機) in Buddhism.
Our mind is referred to as ki in Buddhism. Buddhism places the greatest importance on the mind.
